Babies under the age of 1 year usually have two types of allergy: food allergy and allergic dermatitis. Food allergy results from food intake and is characterized by the following symptoms: itchy eyes, lips swelling, rashes, stomach upset, and throwing up. Doctors would observe the symptoms to identify if they are caused by an allergy to help parents avoid feeding or having that food again. Allergic dermatitis is another common allergy in newborns. It manifests as dry skin and red rashes. Some have round rashes on the cheeks or leaking lymph.
