Prenatal checkup: week 40
Prenatal visits
As long as there is plenty of amniotic fluid and both you and baby are doing well, your doctor may let you go to 41 or 42 weeks, but expect frequent monitoring and check-ups while you wait.
What to expect:
- Your doctor may check your cervix for signs of labor.
- You’ll do a urine test and get your blood pressure and weight checked.
- Your doctor will listen to the baby’s heartbeat.
- Your doctor will feel and measure your belly.
- Your doctor may check your cervix for signs of labor.
- You may have a non-stress test and/or a biophysical profile.
What to ask:
- Have I started dilating or effacing? Any other signs of labor?
- How many more days can I go before you induce labor?
- Do I need to do any other tests now?
- If I go past my due date, how frequently do you want to see me?
