The step reflex
Early Childhood Development
The step reflex is also known as walking or dance reflex. The reason for this name is that babies appear to take steps or dance when held upright with their feet touching a surface.
The step reflex is present at birth and lasts until Your Child is 2 months old. Developmentally, it probably prepares Your Child for walking several months later.
What are reflexes?
Newborn reflexes are reactions that babies are born with. Reflexes indicate that Your Child’s senses and brain are working properly. All reflexes occur at a specific age and will disappear naturally as the baby grows.
