If your bleeding is still heavy or even gets worse, seek medical help immediately. It's normal to have some vaginal bleeding after birth. It's how your body gets rid of the extra blood and tissue in your uterus that has helped your baby grow. Bleeding is heaviest the first few days. By day 4-7 after delivery, the clots usually disappear, and the discharge would be pinkish or brownish. After the first week, the discharge should turn whitish or yellowish. Then, by 3-6 weeks, the discharge is expected to cease entirely.
