Gestational diabetes is a condition in which a woman without diabetes develops high blood sugar levels during pregnancy. To test for gestational diabetes, you’ll be given a very sweet beverage to drink. After one hour, your doctor will take your blood to check how your body reacts to sugar. If positive, you'll be asked to come back for an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT). It is usually done between weeks 24-28.
