As Your Child grows in your belly, calcium is needed to build strong bones and a healthy heart, particularly in the second half of pregnancy when bone development is rapid. You should be getting about 1000 mg of calcium per day, which is equivalent to 3 glasses of milk. Along with calcium, it's important to get the daily recommendation of Vitamin D, since calcium is dependent upon sufficient Vitamin D to be sufficiently absorbed. Some good sources of calcium are dairy products such as milk, yogurt, and cheese. Also, spinach, broccoli, and cabbage contain a lot of calcium.
